I had my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer Certification course this weekend in the city (44 28th St.) You'll notice that my look of pained desparation offsets the general mirth of the group. Here's the story: Not only was I the least experienced CrossFit athlete in the gym, but I woke up Saturday morning with very congested sinuses. During the workout the first day, when we had to do thrusters and burpees, I could only breathe through my mouth, which made me even more dried out and left my head feeling both light and achey. I really wanted to quit about ten times (during the eight-minute workout), but I didn't. And I lived to see another day. And completed another workout on Sunday that made me feel awful. The good news is that my CrossFit training can only improve with experience and a clear nasal cavity. I hear back in about a week with the result of my L1 Trainer test.

  1. Matt, this is awesome. I am really happy to hear you're embracing this stuff. I look forward to getting some tips when I return home. I have never met someone who executes crossfit correctly, who wasn't in phenomal shape.
